What is it?
It’s a one-stop website where parents of kids, tweens and teens can get free cyber safety advice from Internet safety and childhood education experts.
Who’s behind it?
The Canadian Centre for Child Protection, a registered charity dedicated to the personal safety of all children. The Canadian Centre’s goal is to reduce the sexual abuse and exploitation of children, to assist in the location of missing children and to prevent child victimization.
What kind of content is available?
Age-specific online interests, the risks associated with those interests and ways parents can keep their kids safe; emerging online issues and trends that parents need to be aware of; safety resources that range from information on healthy relationships, to cyberbullying, to sextortion; a blog with all the latest information on new apps, quick tips for parents and thoughts on parenting in a digital age.
Why create this website?
As technology advances, so does the risk to children. Trying to navigate online safety can be confusing for parents. This website is intended to educate and empower parents by providing prevention tips to help reduce their child’s risk of online exploitation and points to help them get the conversation started about online safety with their kids, no matter what their age.
